Education and Background
Home Inspector, Windsor
I started off in engineering over 30 years ago, after completing my Honors Engineering Degree, and attained the status of Charted Engineer (UK). Many years were spent abroad as an engineering consultant, working on medium to large commercial and industrial projects. This involved all aspects of engineering, maintenance, property renovations and management.
My home inspection training was through Carson Dunlop and Associates, which is widely regarded, as the Gold Standard in home inspection training in Canada, and specifically Ontario.
I have years of engineering and maintenance experience that are invaluable to me as a home inspector. While other home inspectors are only able to see an issue, I understand them – because I have likely fixed that very issue with my own two hands. We know the homes in the area, what they go through, and what you can expect from them. I have gained not only work experience and relevant education that is hard to match, but a knowledge and work ethic for my clients that can’t be mimicked.
Does the province of ontario require licensing of home inspectors?
The Province of Ontario, DOES NOT license home inspectors. At present, anyone can call them selves a home inspector and use whatever title they wish. No education or formal inspection training is required.
Thankfully, the Home Inspection Act was passed in 2017, and it is understood that licensing may come into effect in Ontario in 2020. At present, the following applies!
